It is the expectation that the doctor can competently assess babies, be proficient in neonatal resuscitation &amp; procedural skills and be able to formulate a management plan and perform necessary procedures to institute that plan as required.<p> <ul> <li>Trainees will have the opportunity to enrol for Diploma andor Masters in Neonatology course (duration 1 to 2 years).<li> <li>Trainees will have the opportunity to enrol for CCPU training (Point of care, Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound Neonatal, ASUM)<li> <li>Neonatal trainees are encouraged to participate in various research projects related to neonatal nutrition, neonatal cardiology, neonatal sepsis, resuscitation, evidence based medicine and clinical epidemiology.<li> <ul> <br > <b><b>Where you&#39;ll be working<b> <b> <ul> <li>Nepean Hospital has an extremely active Perinatal Unit, ensuring a regular supply of high-risk deliveries within the hospital.<li> <li>The NICU caters for more than 4,000 annual deliveries at the Nepean Hospital, as well as a number of transfers from other areas.<li> <li>The NICU manages about 1,000 admissions annually, more than one third of these requiring Level 3 care.<li> <li>Nepean NICU is a 37 bed department with currently 12 ventilated cots, up to 12 High-dependency (flex) cots and a separately located 16 bed Special Care Unit.<li> <li>The NICU staff includes 6 full-time Staff Specialist Neonatologists, 3 CMOs, 1 Clinical Fellow and 9 Trainees.<li> <li>In 2022 we will move into a newly purpose build state-of-the-art NICU with the challenges adapting to a new environment and developing new models of care.<li> <ul> <b> <b><div> <div class="job_qualifications">&nbsp; <div style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><b>Essential requirements<b> <ul> <li>MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligbile for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.<li> <li>Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.<li> <li>Completion of at least three postgraduate years at the time of commencement of employment.<li> <li>Minimum 12 months Level 3 neonatology experience.<li> <li>Demonstrated experience and training in paediatric procedural and resuscitation skills including venepuncture, cannulation, bladder catheterisation and lumbar puncture.<li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency) and judgment and expertise.<li> <li>This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent&#39;s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.<li> <li>Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.<li> <li>To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening &amp; Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.<li> <ul> <br > <b>Selection criteria<b> <ol> <li>Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.<li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.<li> <li>Demonstrated experience and training in paediatric procedural and resuscitation skills including venepuncture, cannulation, bladder catheterisation and lumbar puncture.<li> <li>Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.<li> <li>Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.<li> <li>Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.<li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and self-education.<li> <li>Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.<li> <ol> <div> <div style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"><br > <b>
