Spend time with an elderly person who would enjoy your company as a social visitor at HammondCare Darlinghurst residential aged care home. You’ll engage with residents in a variety of ways, from conversations, activities, board games, going to the local shops, and gardening. Ideally you'll be fluent in Russian and enjoy a good chat.
You’ll enjoy this volunteering role if you have an ability to build and maintain good relationships, as we’re caring for people who have been homeless or are at risk of homelessness and have high care needs. You will be required to show proof of having a recent flu vaccination – or be willing to have the vaccination prior to volunteering. We're seeking people aged over 18 years old and are willing to wear a face mask when directed.
Ideally you'll be available for one hour each week, preferably mornings, for 12 months or longer. We would be happy to chat about a suitable time and day during the week, Monday to Friday.
HammondCare is an independent Christian charity and we're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need. HammondCare is located at 118 Darlinghurst Rd, Darlinghurst. We'll provide training as well as ongoing support by a Volunteer Coordinator. Successful applicants will be required to complete a police background check and NDIS Worker Screening Check which we’ll arrange.
When you submit your enquiry, please include details on why you're interested in volunteering and your experience in relating to people who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness.
