Our client, a large Federal Government authority, is seeking a Safety and Welfare Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for providing support to assist and coordinate the delivery and dissemination of safety campaigns and related material to the maritime industry. You will also assist in supporting safety and welfare matters and development of briefs and reports as required. This is an initial 3 month temporary role with options to extend up to 6 months. It is paying $42.96 per hour + super (incl. casual loading). Our client is responsible for ensuring shipping in Australia is operating in accordance with the regulatory framework administered by our Client.


  • Coordinate the safety information strategy to ensure efficient and effective engagement with key stakeholders, including the input of material for safety and welfare related campaigns with maritime industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain operational safety and welfare information on websites.
  • Coordinate and develop input to safety and seafarer welfare education material, newsletters and campaigns; and respond to queries on safety issues in close association with subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate input to safety and seafarer welfare reports, updates and briefs to meet Vessel Operations reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with communications and other areas in in the development and dissemination of safety related material.
  • Provide secretariat functions and support for safety related campaigns and meetings, as required.
  • Provide project support for the delivery of operational safety and seafarer welfare matters, as required.
  • Skills/Experience:

  • A Certificate IV in WHS or relevant qualification
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and coordinating stakeholder engagement projects, including high quality project administration documentation and processes.
  • Experience in developing responses to requests for information, involving cataloguing, research, and report preparation.
  • Ability to proactively engage with others and gain support and confidence of key stakeholders to deliver successful safety program outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve desired outcomes in a timely manner when dealing with complex issues.
