The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the provision of standard radiation therapy procedures, using specialised equipment to perform radiation therapy services for clients across a range of clinical specialities, with minimal professional direction. The incumbent is involved in the development and maintenance of professional standards in the treatment or planning areas. The incumbent provides professional direction to other radiation therapists, undergraduate students on clinical placement and work experience students. The incumbent under professional direction contributes to approved research programs and departmental quality assurance programs.
Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, which entitles a statement of accreditation in Radiation Therapy from the Australian Institute of Radiography, or its recognised equivalent (up to July 2012) and then registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (post July 2012).
