The Matchmove Artist is responsible for the tracking of moving objects and moving cameras within a scene. Responsibilities include preparing and importing shots, ensuring they are ready to be matchmoved, and recreating camera motion so that it can be exported to animation or compositing.
Experience in both Matchmove and Rotomation, previous feature film experience is essential.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Strong Matchmove skills both artistically and technically
Advanced knowledge of industry standard software including Maya, 3DEqualizer, Linux. Proficiency in Python scripting an asset.
Good sense of movement in camera, objects and nature and an understanding of film cameras, lenses and distortions
Flexible and able to work within timelines
Preparing shots using matchmoving techniques
Imports the motion to appropriate application and, using established techniques, sets up the shot to be matchmoved.
Matchmoves items moving and rotating on all axes for the duration of the shot
Manages notes from Supervisor and ensure they are applied
Prepares output motion files for use by Animators and Compositors
Internal and External Quality Control
Work collaboratively with other departments in particular, Model Texture and Layout Department
