The Opportunity

We are seeking a Clinical Lead to provide leadership, coaching and to inspire Mental Health Professionals to establish and deliver the Mental Health Triage program.

This will be a fixed-term contract position Monday to Friday, primarily business hours however we do offer some flexibility of hours.

Our Mental Health Triage program involves mental health triage and education, risk assessment, referral to local mental health providers, and crisis intervention for people experiencing extreme emotional distress. This is a safe and accessible service operating 24/7, 365 days a year.

You will be working closely with the Clinical Manager team to ensure that rigorous clinical governance is observed in their Triage team and that they have the operational efficiencies and clinical support needed to excel in service delivery.

The Clinical Lead is responsible for the team of Mental Health Professionals achieving the highest quality clinical outcomes and operational efficiencies by:

  • Providing real time clinical support, coaching and assistance
  • Always operating in the clinical governance frameworks to ensure risk adverse consistent quality of healthcare service
  • Communicating and finalising shift requirements through close liaison with our workforce planning team
  • Leveraging reports and tools available to monitor and identify areas of improvement and development
  • Ensuring the team is provided with ongoing clinical support and coaching in the absence of the Clinical Lead
  • Ensuring an understanding of commercial realities and contractual requirements of our client
  • While the main focus of this role is clinical management and governance, Clinical Leads may be asked from time to time to work a shift taking program calls to maintain familiarity with the requirements and current issues.

    You will start with a virtual (at home) induction over three weeks.

    About You

    To be successful in your application for this role you will have:

  • A clinical qualification in a relevant discipline of nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, or social work
  • Current registration with AHPRA for associated disciplines or AASW.
  • A minimum of five years of full-time experience in an acute mental health setting (for example MH telephone triage, work in an inpatient unit, conduct mental health assessments in ED or community settings)
  • At least three years’ experience in a clinical leadership role and have experience in coaching and mentoring
  • Extensive clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills. You are self-driven and can work autonomously from home.
  • Other requirements include:

  • Active landline and suitable internet connection 
  • Proof of application of a working with children check 
  • Private room/space which can be used for your home office set up
  • Intermediate IT skills - comfortable navigating software, typing and talking at the same time
