Our Business Development teams focus on building partnerships with new Groupon merchants. We spend our days learning about what makes small-business tick and how to craft unique marketing campaigns to help them reach their targeted audiences. Our expertise ultimately creates jobs and drives economies as we help local merchants thrive.
Owning the relationship with our merchants, your role as a Business Development Consultant will be to highlight the best possible opportunities for our subscribers, partnering with a variety of different businesses devising marketing features that will assist them to increase and calibrate customer traffic.
You will be responsible for proactively cold calling clients, and getting to know their business with the aim of bringing in the best deals for our subscribers. Our Business Development Consultants use a distinctive consultative approach to client management and focus on a strong understanding of a business to deliver a mutually beneficial win, win, win solution.
What you'll actually be doing:
Prospecting new business opportunities through cold calling and closing local deals over the phone
Take ownership of contract negotiation process, dealing with margins, discounts, and other critical elements
Use consultative selling strategies and knowledge of deal structure to reach merchants’ desired outcomes and maximise profit
Sell the benefits of Groupon as a powerful marketing tool and in addition be able to sell the range of marketing channels we employ eg : EDMs, search engine management, behaviour triggered push notifications and affiliate marketing
Work with our Account Management teams post-close to ensure a smooth handover and transition of accounts post sale to align on merchant strategy
A little about you:
Prior experience selling either over the phone and comfortable cold calling B2B or B2C in a target / KPI driven sales environment
Strong consultation and negotiation skills, and hunting skills so honed, Bear Grylls would be jealous
The right balance of coach-ability and confidence, and are excited about the opportunity to further develop consultative sales skills
Comfortable in a competitive environment, with evidence of personal ambition to improve
You’re an excellent listener and collaborator, but knows when to be assertive, persistent, and persuasive
You are curious about people, local businesses, and possess the innate ability to inspire passion in others
You have an uncanny ability to focus in a whirlwind of change
