About the role:
C&K Mooloolaba Childcare Centre is a branch service of C&K. This early childhood education centre began with Maroochy Shire Council in 1982 and transitioned to C&K in 2007. We have large natural play spaces and value the importance of playing in and learning from natural environments. We have chickens and encourage the native wildlife with bird feeders and a beehive for native bees. Our centre is welcoming and friendly and is comprised of three playrooms.
We believe a play-based approach is vital for children to learn and grow. We recognise that C&K's 'Listening and Learning Together' Curriculum approach and the Early Years Learning Framework promotes optimal development when educators respect and respond to each child's learning opportunities in conjunction with their families and communities.
We are currently looking to employ a passionate Assistant and Kitchen Float for a Part-time, 37.5 hours. This is a permanent position and will involve the educator working a roster between the centre's opening hours of 6:30 am - 6:15 pm.
The suitable applicant will be responsible for:
Demonstrating an understanding of and the ability to assist with the implementation of C&K 'Listening and Learning Together' Curriculum approach;
Demonstrating an understanding of The Early Years Learning Framework;
Assisting with planning, documenting and implementing a program for each child taking into account their strengths, capabilities, culture, interests and experiences;
Assisting with monitoring, recording and evaluating children's learning and experiences and makes adjustments to the program where necessary;
Contributing to each child's C&K learning portfolio;
Supporting and guiding children's behaviour in positive ways;
Having an ability to work with and support children with additional needs;
Demonstrating recognition, acceptance and respect towards Australia's first people - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
Assisting with the implementation of experiences and the provision of an environment that aims to increase children's knowledge and understanding of Australia's first people.
Ideal applicants will have:
Certificate III in Children's Services (or equivalent qualification) or currently enrolled and actively working towards a suitable qualification;
Hold a current Blue Card or ability to obtain a Blue Card;
Current First Aid/ CPR including Asthma and Anaphylaxis;
Previous experience in a similar role is essential;
Knowledge of the C&K 'Listening and Learning Together' Curriculum approach is desirable;
An ability to work as an effective team member and to support the teacher;
A developing understanding of the provision of a safe, well planned indoor and outdoor learning environment;
An ability to document observations of children's behaviour and development;
An ability to implement a planned program, ensuring the needs of individual children and the group are met.
